Here is my pick, this band has been around a long time and I believe is still all of the original members.

Was not going to post but when I heard "Come on Baby Let the Good Times Roll" I had too.

They called it quits last year.
Or did they? Well, at least some did...

Wow, I notice the article is from Sept 2011. Guess I missed the last of the shows - unless they do endless reunions ala Rolling Stones

Brought my two teens to see them in Bayshore a year or two ago and we saw the band hanging out back after the show. My kids got autographs!!

This is posted on their website:
"The Band would sincerely like to thank everyone for making the last 33 and a third years so very special. We will keep ya'll posted about any other Rads stuff to be released.
THANX !" -- pretty funny 33 1/3!!

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Punk Rock Rules ?

Is this the part where you tell us that Punk Rock is an art form and that the 80s ruled because of The Clash? An art form whose full expression wasn't realized until the prince of the Seattle grunge movement, in a total heroin meltdown placed a shotgun up to his head and blew his brains out? Then again, if I had to wake up next to Hank Harrison's daughter every morning, just might seem like a reasonable way out, yes :-)?

Digressing back to the Tommy/Quadrophenia conversation, Tommy was revolutionary in the annals of Rock n Roll, firstly for the opera theme and continuing the album concept innovated by The Beatles on Sgt Peppers. It’s safe to say that the material on Tommy was rushed into the recording process, there are maybe 24 songs on the Tommy LP, many are fluff, 8 of which are fabulous. Owning the CD is a pleasure to simply program those 8 tracks for listening. Musically Tommy's hits mostly came together on stage in their live performances, the Isle of Wight performance comes to mind.

Uncle Ernie was very understated on the LP, it wasn't until Townsend's bust for kiddie porn did he start deeply talking about his experience as a young laddie in an attempt to rationalize the behavior.

There are four behaviors in life that are unforgivable, murder, rape, domestic violence and kiddie porn. Being an asshole isn’t one of the four.

If The Clash and Nirvana are your reference points for punk rock then you have a lot to learn about the genre.

I was actually going to say that The Replacements, Minutemen, and Husker Du were bands that ruled (for me) in the '80s (labels notwithstanding), but thanks for the input. Now, if you want to go back to the '70s . . .

I've always thought that A Quick One was better and more concise than the bloated excess that was Tommy. Then again, I didn't sit around in junior high upon it immediate relase with my lava lamp, shag carpet, and black light posters to catch it's deep import - but, then again, neither did Koch.

There was one act that emerged out of the sesspool that was CBGBs in the late 70s that had a modicum of artistic and musical acumen, you know of whom i speak.

In terms of my knowledge of the genre, i know enough to know that 99% of it is musically uninteresting.

Interesting that you'd say that Koch, I've always wondered how much pleasure you derived out of beating your ex-wife...

Part of the lineage of Bill Monroe, Del has never been appreciated enough for the legacy he carries on with. Old And In The Way got me interested in these guys. I've become a Delhead.

Good one, we saw these guys live along with New Orleans Jazz Preservation and it was fantastic, Del's been touring a long time.
